1. Overview

Kalí is designed to help users track and understand nutrition, meals, and health insights. This app:

• Does not require a user account
• Does not include login or registration
• Does not collect personal identifiers
• Does not track users or perform advertising
• Stores all structured data locally on your device using SwiftData
• Sends photos or text to the OpenAI API only for real-time processing
• Never sells your data or shares it with third parties for marketing

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Photos & Camera

If you choose to capture or upload a photo:

• The app may access your Camera or Photo Library only after you grant permission.
• Photos you capture or select are stored locally on your device.
• Photos may be sent temporarily to the OpenAI API for analysis.
• Photos are not stored on our servers or used for training.

2.2 User-Generated Content

This includes meal descriptions, text input, notes, and metadata generated by analysis. All such content is stored:

• Only on your device
• Using SwiftData in the app sandbox

We do not transmit this data externally except when you explicitly send text or images for analysis.

2.3 Health Data (HealthKit)

If you grant permission:

• The app can read or write nutrition, weight, or other HealthKit data.
• All Health data is accessed only for app functionality.
• Health data never leaves your device.
• We do not store, share, or sell Health data.

3. Data Sent to OpenAI (for Analysis)

To provide insights, Kalí may send photos, text descriptions, and meal information to the OpenAI API over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS).

• OpenAI processes this data only to generate a response.
• OpenAI does not use this data to train models or store it long-term, per their current privacy commitments.
• We do not store any transmitted data outside the device unless you choose to save the output locally.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively to provide app functionality, including:

• Analyzing meals
• Generating nutritional insights
• Reading or writing Apple Health data (if enabled)
• Helping you track your progress

We do not:

• Use data for advertising
• Use analytics SDKs
• Sell or share data with marketers
• Track you across apps or websites

5. Data Storage

• All long-term data is stored locally on your device inside the Kalí app.
• If you uninstall the app, all your data is permanently deleted unless you exported it manually.

6. Third-Party Services

The only third-party service used by the app is the OpenAI API, used solely to process photos, descriptions, and nutrition-related text.

• Sent only when you initiate analysis.
• No third-party analytics or advertising frameworks are included in the app.

7. Children’s Privacy

• The app is not intended for children under the age of 13.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Choices & Rights

You may:

• Revoke camera, photo, or health permissions at any time in iOS Settings
• Delete the Kalí app to remove all locally stored data

The app does not maintain any server-side data about you, so no data export or account deletion requests are required.
